ABOUT THIS PIECE

The Honesty Opens Shirt is a masterclass in architectural pattern cutting with its considered pleating that flatters the waistline while still offering volume and ease above and below. A cropped hemline lets the shirt finish just above the hips helping to lengthen the legs. A collared V-neckline creates a perfect mantle to display jewellery and an unexpected buttonhole on the cuffs of the sleeve allows you to roll the sleeves up mid way and button them to transform into a short sleeve shirt.

This garment is made in a crisp clean and structured white cotton blend twill. It has a dense weave to help keep its architectural shape while the technical finish gives it a softness and wrinkle resistance.

INSPIRATION

Tight pleats around the waist explode into volume above and below. Representing confessed vulnerabilities that draw the other closer in a delicate synchronicity as two separate lives become entwined.

The collection is inspired by the emotions experienced in new relationships. That nervous energy which races through your body causing a surge of excitement as if you are about to explode.

ABOUT THE DESIGNERS

palmer//harding launched in 2011 with the simple idea to elevate the humble shirt.

We believe in originality and creativity, and these fundamentals are at the heart and soul of each palmer//harding piece.

Levi Palmer (Belton, Texas) and Matthew Harding (London, England), both alumni of Londons’ Central Saint Martins, live and work in London.

We approach each collection by examining the emotional journeys that we experience, and creating narratives through verb lists which are in turn used to drape and sculpt shapes with fabric across the body.

The sculptural aspect of the design process is an integral part of the brands’ identity - creating unique pieces, centred on the shirt, but also developed across dresses, outerwear, knitwear and other categories.
